greetings from a disabled SAHD
1 Year, 5 Months ago
hello everyone. i'm a 40 yr old disabled stay at home dad. i've been the main caregiver of our 4 children (ranging in age from 12 to 4) for going on 2 yrs now. also, i've been happily married to my wife for going on 17 years now.

i have to admit, it's taken huge adjustments to the role of stay at home. i was an over the road trucker for 14 yrs, and 5 yrs in the army prior to that, but i now face my toughest and most rewarding career!

to any out there who are new to parenting or SAHD life, i offer this piece of advice: many ask if it gets easier. no, it doesn't, but it does develop routine, and in so become manageable. if it were easy, it wouldn't be the most rewarding experience of your life. i suggest knuckling down and getting a groove or routine going asap. once you find this, it'll make all the difference!

@jim_andrew

Congrats on taking on this tough task. We really admire the guys taking on the primary caretaking role. I did a short stint at home with my oldest. Just enough to get it. About how great and how tough the work is.

We've got a show about a fellow SAHD that is starting on Friday. I hope that you will give Survivor Dad a look and let us know what you think.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
