What am i getting myself into?!

Just found out my wife is pregnat with our first child, due in october. Now don't get me wrong I'm very excited... but also just a might worried. Luckily I have a great support system already in place of family and friends (some with kids, others sans kids) looking forward to the next great journey

Welcome, Scottly. Crazy, good times ahead. Big changes. A scare or two along the way. Let us know any way we can support you. Ask lots of questions around here. Lots of good guys with experience. Here you go!

It can't be said enough how important that support network is. Every little bit of help we've got from family & friends has had a very positive impact on us.

Congrats!

It's hard not to worry a little bit... but I will say I learned one thing so far...

If you're the kind of guy who is concerned enough to get on dadlabs.com to make sure he heads down the right path, then you probably care enough about being a dad to make a good one ( at the minimum one who cares!!)

That is half the battle. I hope you get as much out of this site as I am.

Congrats Scottly, welcome to "Baby Ops: Call of Duty". You have come to the right place. Best of luck with the pregnancy and birth.

Some of us, including myself, are fresh off of "Operation: Pregnancy and Birth-Shock and Awe" with our newborns, so we are fresh from the trenches and can help with anything you want to know.

@ Roger-PDX: We make up part of the PNW Newborn contingent. I think my Olivia Lara was born two or three days before your child (Sunday, Nov 28 2010) and we're in Bellingham. Cheers

Yep, your girl is one day older than my son. Which means in ten years' time, she'll be a foot taller, and better at everything.

I love that part of the country. You have access to so many great places up there. My wife and I have spent a lot of time on Vancouver Island and British Columbia in general.

You're an outdoorsy guy - have you ever hiked the West Coast Trail? We went in 2008 and it was incredible.

I had the same question when I was in your boat a year ago. I started realizing that I could release alot of my tension and stress by either checking out daddy blogs or blogging myself about how I didn't know anything and my journey into fatherhood. Feel free to check it out at The Rookie Dad

Don't worry I'm sure you'll do fine. I didn't know anything about raising a kid when William was born but now after 3 months I'm an old pro at changing a diaper.
