So I'm new to this site, but I'm liking what I see so far. Just wanted to give a "hi" to every one here. My wife and I are expecting our second this coming November with our son turning two this July. While we're adjusting our lives preparing for number two, I'm also in the middle of a major career change. After 10 years in the corporate world, I decided do more with him life and time and turned to counseling preteens and teenagers. Although logically I know I'm making the right choice and that the time in school, on my internship, and still working full time all take away from my time as a husband and dad I know it will all be worth it in the end.

Anyone else here in the same relative boat? Could use some advise on handling this balancing act. I know this next year is going to be the worst for me since it will be most demanding on my time. My wife is understanding and supportive, but I want to make sure she's not lost in the mix as well.

We are big believers in career change and in working with teens. Brad, Troy and I were all working with teens in a school setting when we started DadLabs -- and we definitely all three have times when we miss it.

I think being a dad changes how you think about work. Not just the amount you want to do, but the sort. Kudos for making the change.

As we do more stuff for teens, we may impose on you to weigh in as an expert.

Welcome and congrats on the new little one on the way. If the switch from Corporate to Counselor gives more long term family time, I think you will love it in the end. Monetary sacrifices for healthy relationships are a no brainer in my mind.

DB - the monetary sacrifices, as you said, really are a no-brainer. I have to admit, I'm not sure what I'll do with myself when I'm finally on a school schedule with all the extra time off! It's an exciting time.
