...... As much info on being a dad to a little girl as possible. My new baby girl is named Cassandra and she was born 03-15-2012. I absolutely adore her. I also am not sleeping too much. This creates a cranky dad mom has to put up with. Anyway I wanted to say hey.

Congratulations!! The Ides of March aren't all bad apparently. Daddy Danny (DadLabs producer) also had a baby this week. (Ok, so maybe his WIFE had the baby.)

Well, I have a boy, so I won't be of much help on the 'girl' front... but actually, for the first few years, I imagine there really aren't major differences, beside a few mechanics of "plumbing" and potty training.

The sleep deprivation can be tough, but realize Mom is feelin' it too. Just try to breath through your grumpiness and not share it too much. That WILL go away eventually, maybe quickly (my boy was sleeping through the night at 8 weeks), or it could be a long while... but hang in there! Even now (theBoy is 4), when I'm feelin' particularly crabby, I can get a hug or a snuggle from him, and all is right with the world again.

Welcome and congrats on the little girl. My daughter is 10 now and growing up fast, but she has been a delight to me. We also have 2 boys, so I appreciate the challenges and difference in raising both.

Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your daughter.

In our case I found that the first six months were the hardest... that's when we had the most sleep deprivation, etc. My employer only gave me three days paternity leave, which was completely inadequate for our needs. A hot meal and a shower were the stuff of dreams during that time.

It gets better.

Hang in there and reach out to friends/family members, if you can. Even if someone can watch the baby for just an hour while you regroup your wits, it can really help. Good luck and congrats again, dad.
