New Mum

Hi I'm Cate from Australia. I'm 31 weeks pregnant now with our first child, a boy.

I love the DadLabs videos and am new to the community.

Welcome, Cate! So glad you could join us. I have to admit the last study of Dad involvement I saw gave the Aussies low marks compared to other countries. In your opinion, is it true? Are Aussie dads less likely to help out around the house and with the baby than Euro or American dads? Or are these studies missing the mark?

You know, I don't really know! Most Aussie Dads work a lot and when not working like to rest, so I guess they aren't as involved with the kids. I wouldn't know from personal experience, as bub is still cooking! If you have any links to studies, I'd love to read them.

How's the weather in Austin? Out here, I'm in wine country (one of the wine growing regions anyway) and we've recently hit spring and its quite hot! Then we had a cold snap after a dust storm (that was rare! orange dust EVERYWHERE) and now its hot again. I do admit, I prefer the hot weather to cold anyday!

Love the videos, and kudos to you, Brad, Owen and Troy for being such fantastic Dads!

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
