TOPIC: Hello!

Hello!
1 Year, 10 Months ago
Just wanted to say hi. Having my first child at the beginning of next year. Trying to gain as much knowledge as I can. Also I have a bad back and was wondering if anyone had any advice on baby products that would not hurt/strain the back as much. Saw that the Orbit 2 might be helpful, but quite pricey.

Welcome and congrats. There are several good infant seat stroller combo's that really favor the back. Chico is a very safe seat and is much lighter than other brands. Also the babybjorn carriers also offer great back support for toting the little one! Good luck!

Welcome, welcome.

Bad backs are a tough thing with new babies -- lots of lifting and toting involved. Infant car seats are a tough one because they usually have to be wrestled out of the center of the back seat.

The BabyBjorn Synergy has the most back support. Keeping the baby close to your center of gravity in a front carrier is the safest for your back.

I've got a bad back and haven't found any baby products to be any real help. Making sure to have changing tables and cribs at heights where you can stand straight without twisting or bending to do regular tasks helps a lot. Probably the biggest challenge is educating my wife as to what things are the least painful when my back is in a mood. If she forgets about the pain, she thinks I'm being lazy not wanting to change a diaper or get a kid out of a car seat.

I completely forgot to say my name. Haha. Ralph is the name by the way. And thanks everyone for the great advice on better back ideas. I will have to look into those brands and see which ones might work better.

Also never thought of having the changing table at a higher height. Makes a lot of sense though. Will definitely keep it all in mind.

Thankfully my wife is pretty understanding at least for now. I'm hoping as the pregnancy goes a long she will keep that understanding nature about her.
