From rockstardom to fatherhood...

Hey everyone, this is my first time here so I thought I'd introduce myself. I am 31 years old (32 in a couple of weeks) and my wife is currently expecting our first baby - a boy.

We live in San Diego CA, but she is originally from Buffalo NY and I am originally from London, England. I was in the music business there, in a reasonably successful band, touring Europe and stuff like that. We moved here a year ago and love the sunshine!

Pretty terrified about the impending arrival, but obviously over the moon and excited too. Would greatly appreciate any sage advice or tips! We recently moved to a new apartment where we'll have an extra bedroom for the baby. So far it's stocked with crib, changing table, changing mats, boxes of toys, car seat, pushchair, plenty of clothes, diapers... I think that's about it. Anything else I've forgotten?

(The crib will be in our room next to our bed, but it's in the spare room until he arrives).

Congratulations! I think you'll find fatherhood tops rockstar hands down. (Though I am guessing, having never been a rockstar.) There are great tips here in the forums and videos. I also highly recommend the DVD Due Dads. You'll laugh, won't be grossed out, AND learn what to pinch from the hospital!

Welcome and congrats! I myself am in a band...on Guitar Hero... We're called Fat Jesus & The Disciples. I usually get 5 stars so it's kinda a big deal...

Welcome. I hope that we can offer some helpful tips and ideas -- or at least provide you with a place to vent with other dads, but expecting and experienced. The key is not to be shy (former rock fame may help here) -- ask questions, offer opinions. Lots of good dudes here to chine in.

I'm glad you've already posted one. A good sign.

And, by the way, if Brad offers to play the harmonica for you, find a way to politely decline...
