TOPIC: Faith Fathers

Faith Fathers
2 Years, 3 Months ago
My name is Gil. I am a divorced and very involved Dad of 2 teens. They are amazing kids. I work for a Male Parenting resource group. I also lead a Men's Ministry and do youth group.
I am wondering how many other Fathers who have a Spiritual Faith find it as a source and strength? How many have been supported in many child-rearing issues by their family of Faith.
I really love DadLabs Live - great job.
I live in an active community in Southern Maine.
I am a major RED SOX fan!

Gil,

Often times it is my Faith and my support from my peers in my church that keeps me most gorunded. My wife na dI are in volved in a small group that is 4 families. We all knew each other from either under grad or grad school as well as thoruhg our church. We have 5 (2 year old) boys within 5 months of each other, with my twin boys being smack dab in the middle. We get together twice a month and hire a couple of high school girls to baby sit so we can encourage each other and have a good laugh to shake off the stressors we deal with.

During some tough times our Men's Ministry has been there to help me through some challenges with parenting stresses. I'd be lost without their support.

As for being a Red Sox fan, I'm a Cardinals fan, but root JD when the Sox are playing.

Hi Cook!

Thank you for the reply.
I hope I get more. We do a lot of Men events and our felowship tends to be more like a community within a community that what many people would call'Church'.
God Bless you and your group for the commitment to keep your manhood and male parenting intact and conected in a Faith context.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
