TOPIC: Expectant dad in Dallas

Expectant dad in Dallas
1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hello, community. My wife and I are expecting our first child, a son who will be named Hudson, in late May/early June. I live in Dallas and will be turning 30 later this week. I bought my first copy of DadLabs for a friend of mine when he was expecting his daughter because I have a 2nd degree connection to Owen (a friend of mine does some performances around Austin with him). I can't wait to read and learn from you guys who have already been through what I'll be going through soon!

Welcome, hchenevert!

I'm a Dallas native myself -- proud graduate of St. Mark's (Class of '85; I'm just a touch older than you). I hope that you like the book and find it useful. If you do, give us some love on Amazon. Those positive reviews really help.

I also hope that the site is a good resource for you to. Search the video catalog, if issues arrive. And feel free to ask questions of the community.

Congrats and cheers.

Clay

Welcome hchenevert,

You'll find the videos here as useful as they are funny. I'm around your age (28 in May) and we're expecting our first also, (hoping for a boy, but I'll settle for a healthy anything)we go for our 1st MD appointment on 2/17 which will be 9 weeks along, (you're about a trimester ahead of us). I look forward to your participation in the community! This has been a tremendous resource for me in these 1st few anxious weeks. Welcome aboard!

Thanks, all. Excited to see that there are online communities for dads. My wife already reads about 400 blogs about birthing and mom stuff, and I felt kinda left out. Glad there are sites like this for us men.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
