Car guy, tech geek, Dad of 2 in the burbs
2 Years ago
Hey guys.

I've been active online in the dad community for a few years but never really found a good forum to join so here's hoping...

Anyway, about me, I'm a dad of two in the Chicago suburbs. I blog professionally at Cars.com and personally at www.dadtherapy.com

So if you have car questions feel free to shoot em to me.

Otherwise, I'm just a normal dad in his 30s with an unhealthy addiction to Pearl Jam, metal, gadgets, sci-fi, cars, wine, bbq...the list goes on.

DadTherapy Welcome, glad to have you in the Lab! Look forward to checking out your blogs. While you and Daddy Clay will have to talk cars and wine I am the bbq involved one in the group. Just did a smoked pork shoulder yesterday. What is the bbq of choice in Chicago? Pork, Beef, Vinegar, Red Pepper, Black Pepper, Ketchup, Mustard? I do love the hot dogs in your fair city.

Insert beer instead of wine and I'd think your were my brother from a different mother! Welcome.

Chicago BBQ is mostly the straight forward kind like you'd find in Memphis but there aren't a lot of good places, and the ones that are routinely hailed I find lacking.

Lately I've just been sticking to baby backs because that's what my wife likes best although we do a bit of pulled pork. I have a secret sauce recipe of course, a tad on the sweet side with a spicy rub to offset it.

I thought beer would just be a given.

Welcome, welcome. I think you'll find this to be a pretty good community. I really look forward to asking you car and wine related questions. Please don't be shy about posting car topics and linking to your work on Cars.com -- we're completely cool about that.

I guess I should confess up front that I'm a minivan guy and proud. There. I said it.

I'm a black pepper, red pepper and vinegar proponent but have been experimenting with ketchup and mustard sauces lately. That's blasphemy where I come from so don't tell my relatives.

Nothing wrong with minivans and thanks for the openness about Cars.com stuff. I wouldn't dare spam but will share interesting stuff I either review myself or that fits family car type stuff. My last review car was a BMW 550 GT so Carter got a plush ride but I wouldn't expect most dads opting for it

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
