TOPIC: Calm before the storm

Calm before the storm
1 Year, 2 Months ago
Hello all,

My name is Andrew and my wife and I are expecting our first child in a few weeks. I'm 36 years old and am a working graphic designer in a sign shop. We're expecting a boy and I'm feeling mostly prepared as far as nursery, gear, etc. Still questioning all of these vaccines. Any thoughts on that subject?

Any other advice leading up to delivery and immediately after would be welcome and appreciated as well.

I live in the Philadelphia area.

Thanks and I look forward to checking out more forums and videos. Great site!

Andrew

Hey Andrew,

Welcome to the site. Thanks for checking in, and congrats on being an expecting dad.

We made a video about vaccines, but to summarize: We recommend the standard immunization schedule recommended by the AAP. The claims linking vaccines to autism have been utterly refuted. This is not one to worry much over.

Hope to see you around the site.

Cheers,
Clay

Congrats and welcome to the Lab. Our stance as a family was to follow our pediatricians advice and get the whole list of vaccines for all three of our kids. It has worked out well for us and we feel good about the decision. There has been some interesting news as of late questioning the validity of the studies that claimed vaccines may be harmful.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
