TOPIC: Episode Ideas: Bring 'Em!

Re:Strollers for the Tall Guys

I think I have an idea of why finding a stroller for tall people is such a challenge:

Notice any dads in the photo?

Strollers for tall guys is a great topic, and seems like a good one for Daddy Troy. Adjustable handles seems to be more and more available as a feature on the higher end strollers, but it seems like is has not filtered down to more affordable models.

For example, the check out the videos on this TFK stroller and on this Orbit system or on this Mutsy. All high end models.

Seems right up Troy's alley. How about an affordable stroller that accommodates tall dads?

Post content in your Facebook page like videos that can be shared, sort of viral marketing. Which will help grow the user base. Funny and informative stuff which is most of your videos.

I actually found this site because of the YouTube video postings, so that does work.

As for Episode ideas, there's probably a lot of fertile ground in the realm of sibling rivalries.

Rivalries with new babies.
Rivalries between young children/older children
Rivalries between boys vs. girls vs boys and girls.

Family Exercise might be a good one.
I know when my kids are a little older I plan on taking them on the fitness trails in our area so that we all get exercise together and form a habit for success when they're older.

That's all for now.

@DaddyRoger We post some of our stuff to FaceBook, but we should be way more attentive to that site.

@pfanndad I like the rivalry segments. I've put those on the board. I've even contacted an expert on the subject. We still need to pair the idea with a sponsor that want to reach parents of older kids.

I feel confident we will get some eps out on this subject in the next few months.

Thanks for the feedback!

@DaddyClay I have started sharing videos from the DadLabs Facebook page onto my FB page. I'm sure my friends are enjoying it. I guess in social media the key is not to flood then they tune out. But to keep them coming back wanting more. You could even re-post your old videos if they haven't seen it its new.

Year of the Dad

Episode 845 - Year of the Dad. What's trending in 2012? Dads! Laurie Gelman, co-host of The Mom Show talks about the shifting roles of primary care givers from Mom to Dad. There's also the scarier trend of reality TV/YouTube/internet fame influencing parenting. Parents need to be more aware of what children are watching. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no more than 2.5 hours of "screen time" which includes ALL screens, not just TV. One way to battle technology and hours and hours of texting, bad youtube videos, and generally bad programming is family dinner. Unplug and spend genuine quality time with your family.

eProofing Your Wireless Network

Daddy Clay points out the importance of setting up a secure wireless network. It's easy to with the software that comes with your router, and can be done via the "Network and Sharing Center" control panel on PCs, or the Airport Utility on Macs. Giving the access code out also can allow access to your personal files on devices on that network. Some routers like the Linksys e4200 offer Dual Zone, Guest Zone, or SSID features which allow you to set up access to the internet, but NOT your other devices on the network. Shutting down the network is a great way to limit family access and controlling time limits for your children, particularly during certain times like study time, family dinner, or even overnight.
