TOPIC: What if they never want to get out of the tub?

What if they never want to get out of the tub?
4 Years, 1 Month ago
In episode 301 we brought up some ways to make bath time fun and safe. In the comments we had several parents say that the fight was not about getting in to the tub, but getting out! Give us your ideas for getting kids peacefully out of the tub.

Well my kid is 7 now and he loves to fill the tub and stay there to play with his toy boats. Its ok and I dont mind because I know its lotta fun...

To get him out easily I just make dinner..
So he doesnt shower AFTER he eats, he showers BEFORE dinner so in that case when I say food is ready he is so hungry he gets out the tub himself. Since he is old enough he doesnt make a mess... he can eat , watch some tv and then go to sleep.

Wow, eating without being covered with what your eating is a wonderful thing to dream. Couple of more years for us, but sounds like there is light at the end of tunnel.

Let the water out- they'll get bored really quick.
Works every time I run into that issue.

That's generally been the best method for me with the 5 year old. She used to fight it on occasion trying to close the drain again, but most of the time, she'd just sit in the tub in defiance until she got too cold and had to get out.

With our 1 year old I do the same as Poserdad, just let the water out. She splashes a bit with the water on the way out, but knows that it's towel time when the water is gone.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
