TOPIC: How soon for Sexy Time after Birth

How soon for Sexy Time after Birth
2 Years, 8 Months ago
Hey fellow dads!

My wife is six months pregnant today and she is on thebumb.com website looking into how quickly we can, and do, go back to those glorious moments called sexy time...

So...I am wondering guys...how long?

My wife said some of the girls on thebump.com waited a week and others the six weeks doctors recommend...

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Umm... let's see, my daughter will be two next week... so that would be 24+ months? No, kidding.

We waited until the doctor gave approval, at about seven weeks. You need to rely on both your doctor and your wife - if she's not ready, don't try to force the issue or she'll have your head on a platter.

Wait till she gets to 8 1/2 months and check again on how anxious she is.

Do what the Dr. says. There are other factors you need to be mindful of besides just the usual shrinking back into place. Ligaments are stretched out which often times leads to recuring back pain and so can the epidural. Then there is the probability of having a cesarian whether you wanted one or not. Complications may force one.

At 6 months, it's too soon to start thinking about sexy time post birth.

One Austin Mama recently quipped, "sex after childbirth is like throwing a hot dog down a hallway."

LOL.

I guess one of the advantages a casarian will have over "natural" child birth is that there is no distortion, structural, or muscle damage to the "hallway".

Hey guys,
I know this thread is super old now but I thought I'd throw in my two cents for anyone who comes looking for advice in the future. My son is 11 weeks old now and we waited three weeks before trying it for the first time post birth. I had a second degree tear and my stitches had just finished dissolving. After my sex drive went AWOL during my pregnancy it was nice to have the urge back and I did...big time. However I found that even though I thought I was ready, it was physically too soon and it really set my healing back and hurt...a lot. So just go by what your partner feels and don't pressure her if she's not ready, it can have bad physical consequences for her. The other thing is that like me, she may try it and it doesn't work. So just because you try it once, doesn't mean it's on for young and old. But don't worry, it gets back to normal...so I hear. So I hope.

My son is 8 weeks old, today. We attempted intimacy for the first time last night. The doctor gave my wife the ok @ 4 weeks and said she was healed up, but she has been scared to attempt it. Well...it is still too soon. She said it hurts too bad, still.

But there are other things you can do to enjoy eachother intimately without actually having sexual intercourse...which is where we are currently. I look forward to having sex with her soon, but I definitely don't want it to hurt her....a bad experience might leave her not wanting to try for a very long time. So, we are taking it slow and stil having fun along the way.

I would be interested to hear other's situations if they are willing to share!

Year of the Dad

Episode 845 - Year of the Dad. What's trending in 2012? Dads! Laurie Gelman, co-host of The Mom Show talks about the shifting roles of primary care givers from Mom to Dad. There's also the scarier trend of reality TV/YouTube/internet fame influencing parenting. Parents need to be more aware of what children are watching. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no more than 2.5 hours of "screen time" which includes ALL screens, not just TV. One way to battle technology and hours and hours of texting, bad youtube videos, and generally bad programming is family dinner. Unplug and spend genuine quality time with your family.

eProofing Your Wireless Network

Daddy Clay points out the importance of setting up a secure wireless network. It's easy to with the software that comes with your router, and can be done via the "Network and Sharing Center" control panel on PCs, or the Airport Utility on Macs. Giving the access code out also can allow access to your personal files on devices on that network. Some routers like the Linksys e4200 offer Dual Zone, Guest Zone, or SSID features which allow you to set up access to the internet, but NOT your other devices on the network. Shutting down the network is a great way to limit family access and controlling time limits for your children, particularly during certain times like study time, family dinner, or even overnight.
