Camping: Rogerpdx was that you?
10 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Long shot I know, of course, but while we were camping last weekend in the San Juan Islands, there was a Prius with Oregon plates across camp from us, and of course Roger has the only Prius in all of Oregon that camps, right?

I'm sure it wasn't you, but thought I'd say hello anyway.

It rained a bit.

Hi T Low,

No, it wasn't me - a Prius is way too nice of a car for my budget.

So how did you like camping with your daughter? Did you take her paddling, or on some good day hikes? How was sleeping in the tent at night?

We actually did some wilderness camping in California in May and I've been planning to do a writeup on it here.

See you around,

Roger

Please do! (Both of you!) Tips, tricks, must haves, don't needs, etc. etc.

Camping was always a big deal for me as a kid. (Despite the inevitable poison ivy outbreaks. Every. Single. Time.) Still love it, but haven't been in about 5 years...

I hope to do much camping with TheBoy. I do believe our first backyard camp out is coming SOON!

For some reason, Roger, I thought I've seen pics of you guys with a Prius. Oh well.

Overall, it was a good experience, even though I had to spend the first part of Day 1 getting past the beauracracy and Walmart feel of a County campground. (San Juan Island Co Campground now makes you watch a 20 minute video on how to kayak around Killer Whales, and fill out adjoining forms, before you can launch from there. Oh, and then it's a $7 permit per day.)

It was a bit of a difference for me. These are pics of my recent camp site pics (mom and kiddo at home).

This time, the camp area was a little more crowded and laborious.

It rained like the dickens, and was very cold for June, but we had a good time. And the fact that we saw the Killer Whlaes swim by on four different occasions always helps.

Maybe I'll start a new thread about the kid oriented details with a different title that may attract more people than just Roger. ;)

That looks like an amazing setup. I bet the kids had a blast. A new thread is a great idea.
