TOPIC: What is your favorite technology?

What is your favorite technology?

I know that with the pre-sale of the iPad I am looking back at what my favorite gadgets/technologies I have had. I am curious what your opinion is.

Me, I like the smart phone the best currently. I have a Blackberry (or Crackberry if you will) and love all the Applications that connect me to my world. I can take pictures with my phone an upload them to my Facebook account directly. I recently told my brother about this so I can see more recent pictures of my niece.
I also like apps like Schlage LiNK that are more practical. It connects to my home security system to remotely lock the front door, turn off lights, monitor with security cameras and adjust the thermostat through either my phone or computer. It is great for me because like the woman in the new iPhone commercial it was featured in I will forget whether or not I turned off my lights before I leave for vacation and it is comforting to find out.
I found out recently they are having a $50 rebate on Schlage LiNK as well. I highly recommend checking it out before the rebate ends on April 30th.

IDK that's a hard one.

My final four would be Al Gore founder of the internet vs Louis Daguerre Father of photography and Ralph Bear with his "Brown Box" (video games) vs Steve Jobs and his magical musical fruit, I-tunes.

Championship would be Daguerre vs Ralph Bear.

Winner Daguerre! I've been totally geeking out with my Nikon D40 lately.

I'm iPhone dependent. I've got a love affair with my Kindle, but I wonder how I'll feel when the iPad comes along (I'll get one, sooner or later and for the moment, I'm thinking later).

I love my D60, but would gladly swap it for a Canon T1.

So I'm saying Kindle.

It's hard to pick one particular technology for me since there are so many and I'm a big tech geek. One thing that I like is the synchronization of many platforms. I love that I can place something in my Dropbox and have it on my work computer, my home computer and my iPhone. I love that I can do the same thing with Evernote. I love having the ability to schedule shows or movies from work or on my iPhone via AT&T uVerse. I'm EAGERLY awaiting the arrival of Boxee so I can stream downloaded movies from my home computer or steaming media to our TV without going through the ugly hassle of building a media server with Windows Home or Open Media. My wife needs easy and these new technologies accomplish the things I've always wanted to do with a friendly, intuitive interface.

I'm not an early-adopter/tech junky or anything, but I'm honestly not sure that I could live anymore without my iPod. I use it constantly (my Last.fm profile says that I've listened to almost 10,000 tracks since last July, but that doesn't seem right to me), and I just can't imagine giving it up.

I don't know what I would've done without the internet for these past three years that I've been living in Houston. I would've lost touch with most of my friends in Austin a looong time ago, just to start with. I also probably wouldn't know anyone here in Houston. Plus video chatting really helped cut down on the phone bill when Tim was in the Philippines a year and a half ago. So when it comes to daily use, my favorite technology would be the internet.

I'm crossing my fingers that Apple will give all their workers an iPad when it comes out, like they did the iPhone. I doubt it, but that would be almost as a good of a reason for Tim to get that Apple job as the benefits would be.

I just pre-ordered an iPhone 4. My rationalization goes something like this. My 7th grader is begging for an upgrade from his indestructible Samsung Rugby to a phone with a full keyboard. Despite the facet that he destroyed the last iPhone I handed down to him, I think an iPhone has the nest parental controls on the market.

An iPhone 3GS is a pretty powerful machine to hand over to a kid, but I also think that can be a good thing. I hope be explores the potential of the technology, finds useful apps, communicates, everything.

I'm looking forward to testing out the video, vlogging and live streaming capacities of the iPhone 4. I need to be able to jump into the live show remotely, and I think this may be the best solution.

I ordered 2 iphone4's last night The moment I saw Facetime (Video Calling) I was sold. I could imagine being away and seeing my baby from anyplace. My wife has a gPhone (Android) and I was not very happy with it. I have been a using iPhone for a long time and write software for it.

The confirmation email I received from apple said it might be delivered as soon as the 24th. We'll see about that.

I'm wondering if tethering is going to be a big deal for other people.

I didn't go for it, signing up instead for the 2 Gig a month plan. I saves me $60 a year in the short term, though metered usage does make me nervous. I downloaded a movie to my iPhone while on a business trip. But it was over wireless. Would that count against my data plan?

If we traveled more I might be tempted by tethering.

Put my 3GS in the otterbox and it feels tweenproof as much as anything on earth can be.

I have mine reserved and ready to be picked up from the apple store on 24th I hope its not too crowded.

I went for the upgrade option from my 3G so I'm still on the unlimited data plan. But I don't think I have tethering option with that.

I have never really used a case for my phone and its in pretty good condition. I find that the case tends to attract more dust. But with a new baby coming I might have to get a case in a year or so.

Am I naive to wait until Fathers Day to see if the Iphone 4g is in the stocking?

The automobile...has always been my favorite
the ability to relocate oneself, within a 500 mile radius at will
is a wonderful and life affirming freedom...

My favorite technology would have to be between computers and video games. I like video game systems because they can bring a lot of people close together when those people may not have ever talked or known each other. They are a lot of fun, but computers allow us to do so much and post funny videos while entertaining us. I would definitely have to go with computers.
