TOPIC: New Ipod Nanos for Video?

You really want something you can put on a tripod or whatever they call the single pole mounts. The full-blown cameras really aren't that expensive and certainly aren't like what my parents had to use. The extra features and flexibility will pay off. I think the Flips do everything, by the way. Just look through the features and maybe take a look at CNET's reviews.

But the iPod Nano isn't bad. I just wouldn't buy it AS your video recording device. It's just a convenient "don't want to miss this" feature.

I wouldn't dismiss the iPod yet. The multi-purpose nature of the device makes it really appealing for what you are going to use it for. I just haven't used mine for video yet, mostly because I use my iPhone. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

I use my iPhone when I'm out and about to do spontaneous video. I don't know that it's what I'd want to use to record permanent memories of special occasions, but the quality is certainly 'good enough' when they spring something unexpected on you, or you don't want to carry around extra bits on the go.

I know this thread is 7 months old, but if anyone new is looking into this... I have done a lot of research.

Personally I am a go HD or go home kinda guy. You want to future proof a video especially since we are in the middle of a format change for all television! SD is just a waste of money.

The new iPod touches, Nanos, iPhone all shoot HD video now. If you have a kid who likes to get dirty CHECK THIS OUT.

The Go Pro Hero ($250 - which is a STEAL for what you are getting)

the National Geographic shows I work on use this a lot. It's water proof. Which means you can let your kids take it in the pool, you can mount it on a bike, on a helmet. When your kids are at a really active age, you could make a bunch of videos with them, and have this camera that is virtually indestructible.

Because the camera is in a waterproof case, it doesn't pick up very good audio. So having another camera (camera1, camera2,camera1, camera2, camera1, camera2) would help if you want audio.

Imagine all the awesome videos you can make with your kid. Especially if you already own a iPhone 4, or new iPod Touch. If you have iMovie you could make really cool videos with your kids too.

CES Parent Edition - Episode 842. Daddy Clay and Daddy Brad brave the world of "Mom Tech" at the Consumer Electronics Show. They showcase a few of the favorites from the floor. The Drop Cam is a great wireless video monitoring system. It has new features including HD video, night vision, AND two-way audio for just $149. The Vinci tablet is a specially designed learning tablet for toddlers and preschoolers. Content levels start at a "curious" level, move to "confident" and on to "capable" as your child ages. The Vinci is a complete early learning system starting at $389. Net Nanny is a premier family protection software and they are launching new mobile applications for Android and IOS. Coming soon all versions, desktop and mobile will be merged into one management log in, whereas for the initial launch, the systems are separate. Net Nanny for Android is $19.99, IOS is $9.99 and the desktop version is $39.99. And Daddy Clay made sure to hold CES accountable and has been assured that "Mom Tech" will be replaced by "Parent Tech."
