Does anyone know of any daddy blogs other then Dadlabs and Man of the House?

I am starting my own daddy blog about my journey into fatherhood and hoping to find some good reading and ideas.

There are a few really good ones out there.

You really should be reading Dadwagon and DadCentric on a regular basis. Those guys are pro.

If you are interested in design, then you should read DaddyTypes.

GreatDad is a actually great, more general resource with a little less snark.

GeekDad is what it says it is. Good reviews of geeky dad stuff.

DadGoneMad (Danny Evans) is just plain hilarious.

I am glad you asked this question. I have been considering starting my own and have tried out a few post ideas on you guys.

I have not gotten anything off the ground as yet. My wife and I are doing the Dave Ramsey method of debt reduction so I have been working about 70 hours a week. So between that and trying to spend as much time as possible with the girls I just haven't been able to write enough to try and start my own.

Maybe if you get to a point where you are ready for some guest posts we can collaborate on something.

Best of luck with your blog!

I have a "daddy blog." I've had it up for about 6 months or so, but I've been blogging as a part of my job (don't ask) for over a year now. You can check it out at http://militarydadblog.com.

There are a ton of great dad blogs out there right now, and each one is a little different. A lot of people are trying to make money doing it, so they have a lot of product reviews and giveaways and spend a lot of time promoting it. Personally, I just enjoy writing, and I would very much like for it to be a large part of my life once I retire. Blogging is a way for me to write on a semi-regular basis, so I'm able to stay practiced. There are other blogs where they only share pictures or they only give advice. There's quite a few different kinds.

I've only been doing it a short while, and I certainly don't claim to be an expert, but if there is any advice needed, I'd be more than happy to help out. Just let me know.

@militarydad

Great blog. Enjoyed the meme post. Good stuff.

And I really appreciate your motivation to write the blog. Refreshing. There was a lot of talk about "brands" and "monetization" at the recent Dad 2.0 summit. Good to be reminded about the authentic reasons we write.

I understand the "branding" mentality, and I don't necessarily disagree with it. I think that in 10 years, your level of success will be determined less by what you've accomplished or more by how well you can market yourself. If you have established yourself as a successful "brand" over the years, you would be at a huge advantage.

I also think there's a lot of work associated with that. You would have to spend a lot of time building your online persona through Twitter, Facebook, and your blog. Since I spend over half the day at work, using the rest of my time to build the "Military Dad brand" would be pretty hypocritical since I would have to shirk a lot of my father and husband duties to do it.

I don't want to paint it in a negative light because it really is smart, but it's just not for me at this point. I write the majority of my posts during my lunch breaks or when I'm laying with my son at night to get him to go to sleep. I never blog on the weekends, and I try not to spend too much time on Twitter/Facebook.

Personally, I just like to write, and blogging is a great way for me to stay practiced. Hopefully, I'll be able to at least supplement my living one day, but for now, it's just a hobby that I really enjoy.

By the way, thanks for jumping over to it and mentioning that you liked it. I appreciate it.
