TOPIC: In Need of Christmas Tunes

In Need of Christmas Tunes

I opened my mouth at a meeting last month and found myself volunteering to sequence Christmas lights at the city's botanical conservatory. This will be a courtyard display with a lot of lights.

I have a week or two to pick music and make sure we have BMI/ASCAP licensing taken care of. Luckily, I have some music already sequenced for my house that I can adapt and I have blanket permission for use. But I need more. I'm sure everyone has seen the Wizards In Winter thing that went viral a few years back. Well, that's pretty much what we're talking about. Except a lot bigger.

Two years ago I lit up our house with about three hours of songs. Here are a few samples:

The Six Feet Under is one I did for Halloween.

Can you help me come up with some new tunes to light up the Conservatory? My house has 16 channels where the Conservatory will have 200 or more. Hopefully a lot more.

We're revealing the lights at 2:30pm tomorrow. I'm hoping I can hold the media (and the Mayor and his staff) off until I can at least get back from an OB appointment. Maybe 4:30 or 5.

I have six or seven tunes animated by 32000 lights on 64 channels. It's been a lot of fun the last couple days. I might have 15 or 20 songs done by the time Christmas finally rolls in. The Public Display opens Wednesday night as part of the city's tree lighting ceremony. That should be fun.

So if you find your way anywhere near NE Indiana, stop by.

The Big Reveal wasn't very big. I ended up going to my wife's OB appointment that I'd forgotten about. The display wasn't finished anyway, so they weren't ready to show the lights anyway. So tonight is the premiere, whether they're ready or not.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
