Your Fatherhood Resolutions for 2009
42 Years, 5 Months ago
I needed an entire blog post to enumerate my many fatherhood resolutions. How do you hope to be a better dad in 2009? If weight loss is on you list you should joint the FitFatFit Dad Challenge Group and join Daddy Brad, Daddy Clay and Daddy Troy in their 90 day weight loss contest.

I'm in on the get fit for sure. Best shape of my life for the summer skating season. Rock on!

I want to be more organized. Period. (Office, Craft Area, Kitchen, Household in general.) Have already started on getting things livable so I can really tear into stuff, one room at a time. This one thing will help EVERYTHING... So I can focus the energy spent on my neurosis on more fun and more important things.

Do more fun projects. (Crafts) I have all these cool decoration ideas for Halloween and Christmas that require a build of some sort... then suddenly, it's only 1 or 2 weeks away... not this year. Also included is send more crafted Birthday/Anniversary cards to friends and family. (this all goes right along with the organization of the craft/work space)

More attention to photos and video projects (again, organization will help make this easy). Take the time to label photos when uploaded. Edit video within 1 week of shooting. Get 'em posted (particularly those of the boy) online for friends and family in a timely manner.

Spend more quality time with my wife. We're certainly not in trouble or anything, and we're happy and together everyday... simply put, more DATES. Not just going out for Valentine's day and Birthdays. Movie night at home does count, as long as I cook, or it's catered by PapaJohn's with a good movie selection, and perhaps some wine. But also, more family outings. Even if it's just going to the park for a small picnic.

I guess none of those are really better parenting... but so far, the boy has made things so easy! *knock on wood* It's ridiculous. He wants for nothing and I love spending time with him. Here's hoping that particular blessing of my life continues (for the next 30 or so years)...

I'm going to just call on myself to get caught up. With Duncan running around a couple months ahead of expectations (cruising and doing steps in the same week) I've lost most of my interactive computer time. This has left me with some un-responded messages from dear friends because I've not felt like I could give them the time they need. Things don't look to get better, but I can learn how to prioritize these things a little better. But getting caught up also means following up on finishing the 90% projects, like a disconnected outlet in the tyke's room and repainting a bathroom ceiling. And also getting the crud out of site so that it doesn't distract from the important stuff.

It's about to be a Project Management year.

I loved yours, Daddy Clay, and all the others that Building Camelot posted.

Even though I threw up all over myself here, I'd love to join the FitFatFit Dad Challenge. Yes, I have a holiday innertube fused to my waistline that I must deflate.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
