TOPIC: Visiting Austin and San Antonio

Visiting Austin and San Antonio
11 Months, 1 Week ago
My wife and I will be visiting Austin and San Antonio this Sept. I know there are some here in Austin. Are there any suggestions on what to do with a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old in the two cities for two days each? We are already planning Sea World on one day.

Thanks!!

Dan

Hey Dan,
Glad you are coming down to see us! Maybe we could buy you a bee while you're here.

Austin:
-a stroller ride around Lady Bird Lake is a great way to take in the city
-The Austin Childrens Museum is right downtown and really close to the Lake trail
-Your kids are too young for the classic Barton Springs experience, try a splash in Deep Eddy Pool (it's still plenty warm in Sept.)
-Check the music listing at the Austin Chronicle -- tons of family music every week in ATX

SA
-Hill Country Hilton
-River Walk
-Sea World is fun -- that's a good call

See you then!

Thanks Daddy Clay! Lady Bird Lake and Barton Springs both look like a ton of fun. Being too young for Barton Springs will not stop my dare devil 2 year old. She had a blast at the Six Flags water park and never flinched when going down the slides. I am sure the kids museum is great, but there are kids museums everywhere. But it will be a good rainy day activty. Are there any ranches or farms where my daughter can see the calves and cowboys?

My wife's conference is at the JW Marriot Lowcountry, so we will have lots to do there. It looks very similar to the Hilton Lowcountry. When I saw the Sesame Street themed splash and play zone at Sea World, I was sold. Now I need to find discount tickets.

What about dining? What are some local favorites for kids? Any advice on the food truck scene? Are there any farmer's markets on Thursday worth attendng?

I'll let you know how the plans come together and I might take you up on that beer. Maybe we can also leave the girls with Uncle Owen and go for a date night...

BUGGER!!

Sea World is closed during the week. I guess we will spend Wednesday in Austin. I forget... is there something interesting that happens every Wed at 2pm in Austin? I wonder how that show would be if I crashed it with a few samples from Jester King, 513, Live Oak, etc.. to share.

Just thinking out loud.

DanM--

You should come co-host the show! Seriously. Bring it.

Sorry to hear about Sea World. My daughter went last night and loved the new water park, Aquatica.

I can't believe they are closing the park the last week before school starts. That seems like high season for them. Nuts.

Tell me where and when! I will be there with Sophie and a few beers while my wife and daughter go on a short date. Maybe this will be a chance to talk about kids and alcohol?

Do you have any suggestions for kid friendly restaurants or food trucks?

Dan
