TOPIC: To Play or not to Play

To Play or not to Play
1 Year, 10 Months ago
so I'm in a bit of a pickle. I play softball for my company team and I feel bad because we play 2 times a week. Each game is a double header and I start at 1st base. Problem is that I feel really bad for leaving 2 times a week for a total of about 6 hours. I do love playing though.

That's a tough one and the major reason my golf game has suffered, the 5 hour block needed to play 18 is just too much to do often. Do you have a lot of other time in the week to hang with family? Is it beneficial professionaly for you to play, can your family attend the games, can you play just once a week? Hope you work it out.

I can see myself get into this kind of problem soon. I spend about 5 hours or more playing Tennis every week. I'm starting to spend a lot of time walking with my pregnant wife than playing Tennis.

For me it's not just a recreational thing it is also what I use to keep in shape. It so much more better than running and stuff.

DaddyBrad I can relate, Tennis like Golf needs a lot of maintenance to play well. I think you should try doing 9 holes more often. Or work on the short game in your back yard. Or how about a net to hit into might be fun activity with your child.

In the long run I hope I can have my son/daughter playing with me. My club has excellent daycare even for infants.

What is this "golf" you speak of Brad? It sounds vaguely familiar.

I'd try and get the whole fam out for at least the first game if it's possible. Maybe try and earn some points by returning the favor to mom or volunteering for extra duties like bath time. Good luck.

Tough call. Does your wife have a similar outside involvement. It's actually easier to justify something like this if both parents are trading off. If she doesn't have an activity like this in her life, you might want to subtly encourage her to find one.

I also gave up golf because of the time required. Oh wait. Also because I sucked.

Running is now my thing, but I generally have to sneak it in before everybody else gets up in the morning. Hard to do that with softball.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
