TOPIC: Summer Camp Scramble

Summer Camp Scramble
3 Years, 1 Month ago
My kids are counting down to summer, but I'm dreading it. Homework is a pain, but at least there is a school bus during the school year. In summertime, the logistics are grueling. Shuttling the three kids to and from all the various camps, that is if you can get into camp. But the time is now to get this all figured out. Have you started your summertime camp scramble yet? How do you find a good camp? Is it hard to get in? And how do you manage to get everyone where they need to be?

I have avoided the summer camp scenario to date. The older children take tae kwando lessons that continue through the summer and we tend to enhance the summer experience with a few swimming lessons to knock the cobwebs off so to speak. Apart from that, a few day trips to zoos and beaches may well be enough to ward off the summer blues for now. Summer camp seems somewhat expensive for us right now so we just improvise what activities we can.

Do you have a spouse that stays home? We depend on summer camps because my wife and I both work. Gotta send 'em somewhere.

I stay at home as well so I'm pretty much the camp counselor around my house. I do like Greg does and try to find activities for the kids to go to. We have a pool so it is easy to keep cool in the summer. My daughter is old enough (6) for classes and camps but my son is only two so if one is staying home I might as well keep the other with me too. We have had a good enough time at Camp Daddy so far. I guess may daughter is not yet old enough to grow tired of me too quickly.<br>Hope it works out for you Daddy Clay.

I am very interested to take my kids for summer trip.. Because they feels very bored in sitting at home.. If we prefer to taking them out they feel more happy and they also gain some knowledge..

I agree with you there. My kids get bored so fast and they never stop bothering you that it sometimes makes you go mad. Luckily, there is a summer camp near our home. At least this way, they can spend their energy at the camp and they can meet kids the same age as them. And you can also have time for yourself when they are at the camp.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
