TOPIC: Skatepark Etiquette

Skatepark Etiquette
1 Year, 11 Months ago
If you're a skater Dad(or Mom), or *sigh* a used-to-skate Dad(or Mom), then you already know this stuff.

If you're a pedestrian parent (not that there's anything wrong with that) and have a kiddo with the itch for skateboarding (it is kinda like a rash that won't go away), then PLEASE read this. You'll get more props from SkateDads at the park and alot less stink-eye.

Now, I KNOW that "used-to-skate" comment wasn't aimed at me...right?

Ha Sean. 'twas really meant for Daddy Troy.

But if you used to skate, you should still skate.

Used to flatland BMX, way back before they called it "flatland".

Closest I get now is wistfully watching 20 year old BMX videos on YouTube.

I never could do flatland bike stuff, try as I did.

I started skating because my bike was total junk... gotta flat... borrowed a board that day and never looked back. Had a friend who swore he was going to be the first pro as a biker AND skater... his bike didn't last through the summer... good times. Alas, he plays golf now. (And by play I mean walks around a golf course.) I keep trying to lure him back in, but can't get him to make the commitment... gonna start workin' on his 4 year old son I think... Get the kid to lure Dad back to the Dark Side.

So, wait. It's not cool when I take my folding chair and just sit and watch in the middle of the bowl? I thought they were saying was was cool.

Good to know, Nik. I'm curious what we'll get involved in. Maybe Clay should write something like this for other sports.

I'm inspired to start a new topic...

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
