TOPIC: SAHD for 2 weeks

SAHD for 2 weeks
My wife got the Chicken pox last week and I've had to take time off to be a Stay at home dad. Taking care of an 4 month old and wife with chicken pox is really hard. I tried to quarantine mom from baby at home but after reading the complication of baby getting Chicken Pox I decided to move the baby out to my cousins.

I felt so bad for my wife that she couldn't see her baby on her first mothers day. I'm hoping in a few day I will move baby back home. Wife was feeling a little resentment on my decision early on. I've had to take care of the baby with some help and I go back home to take care of my wife. But its still hard to be the primary caretaker and also take care of a sick wife and also telecommute and work a bit. Looking back I should have just got the FMLA.

The good news is baby is healthy and fine and didn't get the pox and the time I spent with the baby was amazing. It make it even harder to get back to work now.

Way to step up, DaddyRoger. Glad to hear mom and baby are better. Did your pediatrician give you any guidance about removing the baby from the home?

I was not asked to remove baby from home but I thought its lot easier to have a real separation to make sure my wife can move around freely and so can my baby. I guess my first-time parent instinct also kicked in to be paranoid and safe. I really have a true appreciation for all the sole care takers who have to do this with no help.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
