I was surprised when the show didn't get any comments last year when NBC launched the series. The first season dealt with a lot of traditional and not so traditional family and parenting issues. You've got a single mom, a traditional family with an autistic son, a working mom/SAHD family and a guy who finds that he has a son. All this is under the patriarch and matriarch of the family who are having their own troubles.

Well, today I tuned the Tivo to the most recent episode. This season has picked up a very positive plot around the SAHD. In one of this season's episodes, he stands up to his Father-in-Law about his role and his capabilities as a former construction contractor. In the latest episode, he expressed something I've often thought. His wife was pushing to have another child and he explained how that keeps him tied to the home.

I just think that this show is doing a very good job with all of the father figures. They are all in different places and it's representing a reasonable range of fathers.

Loads and loads more I could say. Anyone else watching and have thoughts?

I def. dig that show. The writing, the actors, the story lines. They certainly cover it all, putting the funk in dysfunctional. And they make it fairly 'believable.'

I haven't caught any of the new season yet. We sooo need a dvr...

This is one show that my wife and I DVR and watch together.

Maybe this is the dad in me but it looks like they are trying to paint the fathers into a positive light which would be different from other shows.

The story lines are great... in this past weeks episode you have a father who son is autistic and is struggling to connect with his son. But what father doesn't at some point struggle to connect with their son.

Great show... I highly recommend it... I'm not just saying that because I work for an NBC affiliate either. HAHA.

Yeah, I was great to see the SAHD stand up for himself. Also I am pretty impressed with Dax Shepard who plays Crosby. It's Hard to believe he got his start on Punk'd. Great show.
