Movember Team?
1 Year, 6 Months ago
There was a mention last week of starting a Movember team. I signed up and joined a team, but would happily change if there was a DL team.

I'll be shaving this afternoon!

I went No Mo last evening and am already working on my Mo Jo! I'm thinking handle bar melting into side burns.

I'm clean shaven. Time to get this stache started.

If I can get some followers on this, I might up the ante by volunteering to keep it shaved one month for every $100 and maybe set an amount to shave my head. I'd need some marital buy-in, to be sure.

I'm not gonna shave what I got goin'(it takes 3 weeks to get to this point) nor "join" the team... but I'll be donating for sure. And I'll be sure to post up a bit o' "Fun with Facial Hair" I have planned for my birthday roadtrip.

So, Clay. How'd the big reveal go? You don't need to give details if you're working up the video...

Clay, how's the shaving going? Being a bearded one, I think we can commiserate. Are you still using an electric? I'm finding that the bulk disposables I bought just aren't cutting it. Well, in fact they are cutting. I had my least bloody day today but went through 3 razors. I think these are Schick Xtreme3 razors. They suck.

But I'm enduring the pain and the blood loss.

In the name of cancer research!

First, I have to admit that I'm hedging my Mo. I give myself credit for the first shave in 2 decades, but I've been hiding the mo by going with the Goat so far.

This has helped with the transition for my family. But it has also helped me deal with a time when we are making important presentations. I am just not as bold as Brad with his 'stache.

I will go with the straight 'stache today, but I'm worried about another presentation at the end of the week.

Just build it into your presentation. "We at DadLabs are involved in things that are important to Dads, and that means mens health. So we are participating in "Movember..." etc. etc."

Sumtin like dat.

I've been itchin' to shave clean again, but am waiting for after (or during) my roadtrip. I'm looking forward to bein' silly with a "sanchez" trucker mo as I drive to the middle of PA in a muscle car.

What's the concern about the meetings? I agree with Nik that shows you to have a finger on the pulse of dad-dom.

I just got the "Week 2" email. It's shockingly similar to the Week 2 NaNoWriMo motivation message I got this morning.

Nik, is there a picture of this handsome sounding caterpillar anywhere? And does it fall into the same general category as Brad's facial fauna?

I'm STILL not shaved down to the mo. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!

To shave the beard after 20 years, then fail to sport the pure and luxurious mo is a complete fail. I can't hide behind the meeting thing, because I know the company that I am going to visit knows about Movember and supports it.

It is simply this. A man can only make his daughter cry with his bare chin a limited number of times.

I get it. But I don't.

I thought my boys would have gone crazy. After all, neither of them had experienced a beardless dad in their lives. They're little wee ones who wear their emotions in their (apparently) insufficient diapers. And they've been excited to compare my face to their's almost every morning. It's unsettling, frankly. Especially with the 2.5yo decides to start licking my face. Full Gene Simmons sort of tongue lashing, by the way.

My wife, on the other hand, can barely stand to look at me and has almost abandoned the morning goodbye kiss. But she's vocally supportive. And that counts for a lot.

Have you used this opportunity for good? Maybe your daughter is going through some changes that make this one just a step too much to take (and one that she can directly blame on a parent). Seems like a prime opportunity for a "Good Dad Moment"(tm)

Power and praise to all participating in Movember. I did last year, and was gently told this year that I could donate, but not participate, by the wife. I get next year, though!

DaddyClay, I have not yet created the "Magical Mo" that yes, will look VERY similar to that handsome devil sittin' next to you.

I'll create it either Thursday morning (not sure if I wanna deal with folks at work about it...) or in the afternoon before I leave town. Either way, a photo will most definitely be posted.

And check out this site for inspirational 'Mo posters. Absolute awesome!

I can't pick a favorite. They're all fanmotastic!

Mid-movember 'stache. Some may cry foul, but I claim complete 'stache separation.

My Movember has ended a few hours early. While shaving with my vintage Gillette adjustable, I tried evening up my mo. I seem to have swiped it on one side. Well, this went too far and came close to a Hitler stache. I figured I should cut my losses. I'm now clean shaven, ready for Beard-cember. Who's in?

So, there's a movement to have Decembrow for women to grow unibrows or pencil them in only as a reaction to Movember. Pretty sure it won't catch on.

However, I hope that DecemBeard does. My DecemBeard is filling in nicely and the shaving research I did last month has given me some energy to keep it nice and tight. That's usually a problem as the weather gets nasty and we leave the house less.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
