TOPIC: It's a Girl!

It's a Girl!
So yesterday we had the full-on ultrasound, thank God everything is developing perfectly so far, and also developing: female parts!

Up until the US I felt pretty sure (about 50% sure) it was a boy, and I was 100% wrong! Beforehand, I thought I may have been somewhat dissapointed to be having a girl, but the more I think about it now, and the more I talk to people it sounds like it could be even better! I grew up with 2 brothers, so I had no idea that apparenly there's a very special father/daughter bond thing going on that is so strong that my female coworkers say they sometimes feel jelous and even non-existant at times... Woah.

Anyone else hear of this? It sounds great, and although I think about throat-punching random teenage boys at the mall for no reason these days I feel very excited, not just about having a little girl, but becoming a little girl's Daddy!

Congratulations!

I have one of each (9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son) and love them both dearly. I would say my bond with each is simply different.

But I have noticed that passersby seem to smile bigger when they see me with my daughter compared to me with my son.

Congratulation,

I wanted to have a boy myself but there is something to the father daughter bond. Even at 4 months its amazing. I feed bad for my wife sometimes the way she smiles at me when I get home and my wife does so much work in feeding her and taking care of her but she never gets those kind of smiles. I don't look forward to the dating and all that part.

Awesome.

I love being a daddy to a little girl. And I have to admit that there are some differences. I think both birth order and gender color the feelings we have for our kids, though that's not to say I love and one less than the others.

And I guess I'm even more terrified of her growing up than I am the boys. I'm grateful to have had the experiencing being a dad of both boys and a girl.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
