TOPIC: Is my daughter really that cute?

Is my daughter really that cute?
Okay... I will admit my bias, Abby is really beautiful. The one thing I was not prepared for is the onslaught of ooglers turning to mush and drooling over her. Laast weekend we went out for Mother's Day and LOML's law school graduation and every server in the restaurant came by or were dragged over by another to see our daughter. Cashiers can't resist her. Random strangers sometimes turn to mush as she pases by. I even had someone at synagogue jokingly mention that he as a 1 year old grandson for her. I missed the opportunity to ask how many camels he wanted in dowry.

I have no real experience with babies before Abby. Is this normal, or is she just that damn cute?

Here she is 2 weeks ago at 11 weeks in her Bloom high chair.

PS here are some pictures from when she was 2 weeks old.

Since my son was born I've actually thought about this a little. I might be going to hell but this is what I think.

I think there are at least three categories of babies. The first one being that baby who looks like the thing that came out of that dudes stomach in Alien. People are so shocked at how ugly the baby is they overly complement the parents with praises of cuteness. The second is the same level of cuteness as a puppy or kitten. Puppy=cute, kitten=cute and baby=cute. The third category you have the Gerber baby or the Baby Gap model. These are the really cute babies. They are the ones that will make their mommies and daddies a lot of money by being in TV commercials.

I'm pretty sure most parents, myself included, believe that their baby is the Gerber baby and the cutest baby they've ever seen.

That being said your baby is very cute. Really

It's impossible to be objective, but I would say a strong case could be made that this is a cute baby.

Nice high chair, btw.

Not sure on the baby, but that's a wild high chair!

Seriously though, with all of our friends having kids at roughly the same time most are cute enough for us not to lie when we say "oh he/she's so cute" but there are a few that are just a bit strange looking. Sorry, but sometimes adult features (like those of the parents) shouldn't be on a 8-10 pound infant.

I was a bit surprised myself at our second child getting so much attention and she still does at nearly a year, because she's always smiling. Like always. I'm not complaining mind you. I think our older son might've been a slightly cuter baby but didn't get as much attention.

And yes, your baby is cute.

Truth be told, some babies are cuter than others, and this is one cute baby.

Thanks for all of the kind comments. Abby is a sweetheart 90% of the time We were stuck in a gas station on the side of the highway for 40 minutes yesterday when she started crying inconsolably. She eventually let out an enormous burp and fell back asleep.

The high chair is fun. We are blessed with many kind friends who gave us a ton of hand me downs. We used the money we saved on other baby gifts to splurge on it. So far, she is happy with it. One thing we think would be cool is to replace one of the white plastic u-shaped covers with some sort pf mobile attachment.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
