How to teach son to pee standing up
My son is now 4 years old and I want to teach him to pee standing up. How should I go about doing this? He does not know how to aim into the toilet. How did other fathers go about teaching their sons this rite of passage?

Bring him to the bathroom with you. Have pee races, etc.

My (almost) 6 yr old can't aim half the time lol.

I've heard of people putting "targets" in the toilet. Then just the other day I saw Piddlers Toilet Targets at BRU. Seems like a good idea.

You probably have "piddler targets" in the cupboard... in a box labeled "Cheerios"

We have a large walk-in shower and at times my twin sons love to have shower time with me. Recently they both had to pee while in the shower so I took the opportunity to show them how to pee standing up by letting them aim at the drain.
I then explained they don't have to climb on the toilet seat to pee rather just lift the seat, aim and pee.
Later that day they ran to the bathroom announcing they had to pee. I gave them a minute then walked in to check on them. Yes, the toilet seat was up but they were both standing in the shower aiming at the drain!
I had a good laugh.

My son who just turned 3 started this all on his own.

One day last week he moved his foot-stool over to the toilet, lifted the seat, pulled down his pants and let loose.
His aim did leave a little to be desired, but I was absolutely perplexed.

So I say "Z, where did you learn to do that?" think that he'd credit Daycare...
"From watching you, Daddy!"

So there you have it.
But thinking back, he would also pee in the shower at the Y after swimming at my prompting so I guess there was some foundation already set.

He's four and hasn't been out in the woods yet?

Take himn out in the woods to play and then when it's pee time show him how to pick out a nice semi discrete spot and pee like men were meant to pee. Voila.

Yeah just make sure you keep on him that its not ok to just whip it out anywhere and do his business.

Had that one back fire a couple times.

Another target idea is to turn the water off and flush the toilet dry. When all the water is out of the bowl, draw a bullseye using a grease pencil/china marker.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
