My wife is expecting in September and I'll be staying at home full time. When we went to babies r us all of the diaper bags were feminine. Any suggestions? I'd rather not carry one of those around. Can I just grab an insulated backpack?

And don't forget to check consignment shops and thrift stores.

I also suggest having an "emergency pack" which for us was a small flat pack with just a couple of diapers, wipes, spare onesie, and a plastic bag or two(for the soiled stuff), and maybe one of those small light blankets. Put that in the car and leave it there. For when you have that "problem" and you actually forgot the diaper bag.

It's cool to have when you're going into a store for just a short time. This saved me a couple of times. But you also have to remember to replenish it! (this bit me a couple of times too)

but I had it before our twins got here, so I didn't have to shell out the money for it...still, better than any diaper bag I have seen around and keeps my hands free for taking care of two little girls.

An old backpack will be just fine. There are some good sealable bags on the market to keep dirty diapers in so you won't smell them through the backpack.

Absolutely. I used one with my two youngest and am now using ti to carry computer etc!

I'm a big fan of the backpack-style bag. Just makes sense.
