TOPIC: Baby Shower girft for Mom-to-be from me

Baby Shower girft for Mom-to-be from me
10 Months, 1 Week ago
Hey guys,

This Saturday is our shower. We've guy'd it up a little, us guys will be pretty much on our own with a Texas Hold-Em tourney, cigars and brews. Is it customary or recommended that I get my wife something extra for the shower from me? If so what? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

PS: I'm sure the guys at DadLabs will be happy to know that we registerd for and have alredy received our Baby Bjorn carrier. I'm looking forward to using it!

While it is not customary for the guy to give an extra gift to the future momma (these showers are more about the family unit scoring baby swag) you can gain HUGE points by getting her a little "sweet memory" gift. Nothing big but something sentimental to commemorate this special time in your life. Something like a small locket or charm will do the trick. Also be sure to shower after swilling brew and smoking stogies before you handle all the new baby stuff!

I did two things that I think my wife liked:
- Pregnancy massages from Viva Day Spa here in Austin (I'm sure other spas around town have them). My wife was so sore & tired near the end of her pregnancy that a good massage would really help her relax.
- I created a little "coupon book" with coupons for her to get out of the house without the baby post-delivery. Basically, just a promise that I'd be available to baby-sit on request. (She really liked this gift, but frankly, it's not like I wouldn't be watching the kids anyway.)

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
