TOPIC: Anyone had to fire their nanny?

Anyone had to fire their nanny?
3 Years, 8 Months ago
I'm on my third since June. Never before have I had trouble - I have a very good interview process that has provided us with three terrific girls in the past. This year, two bad hires and the verdict is still out on the third. Anyone?

I'm not sure we could quite afford a dedicated nanny, but even if we were able to do so, I think there's a great deal to be said for the social benefits that the group environment of a good daycare can have. Our daycare - we call it school when talking to our little boy - is a very well-structured setup with learning & physical activities and has scheduled snack times, lunch, and naps. It's far beyond a babysitter - more like a pre-pre-pre-Kindergarten.

Our 2 year-old son's vocabulary and overall learning has skyrocketed since we enrolled him back in April. His recognition of colors, shapes, letters (but oddly, not numbers) is quite a bit ahead of that of other similarly-aged kids we know who are mostly kept at home or in a single caregiver setting. Although it could just be that he's predisposed to picking certain things up early, I really believe the credit lies with the fantastic ladies at the daycare. They're really well-organized, interactive, and caring.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
