TOPIC: Pull ups, worth it?

Pull ups, worth it?
11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
So my husband and I are getting ready to start potty training are son, we've got his own little potty, his grandparents bought him a potty dvd... now we're wondering about the Pull ups diapers, are they worth it? Also does anyone have suggestions on great cleaning supplies, to say get pee or pop off of carpet, or leather sofas.... I figure I might as well be ready for the accidents.

I say yes. But not until your son is actually going to the bathroom and starting to attempt to remove his own diaper. Because until then, the pull up is just a more expensive diaper.

We're FINALLY to pull-up only as a night time thing. We still have accidents in underwear, but they are getting fewer and farther between incidents. I'm still puzzled on the waking up to go potty thing. He's NOT waking up when he has gone in his pull-up, so I'm not sure if we're going to be able to stay with them for night time training...

As for cleaning... I'd probably just stick with "pet stain" removers. Sounds funny I know, but that's what it's for, right? We've been lucky in that those particular kind of accidents have been rare. They've happened, but not often.

I'm considering buying a special set of sheets for his bed, but I can't remember the name, I'll have to go back and look at my KidsExpo brochures... If we go that route, I'll be sure to post up a review.

Edit: Found it. The "Oops Sheet." Yea, that's NOT gonna happen. $100 for ONE twin sheet. Really? No. That's insane. Sorry.

We used pull ups with all three kids. It starts marking the transition -- let's them know there are different expectations. Even if they are just more expensive diapers. Once you move onto underwear -- accidents will happen, but ours were mostly contained by the clothes. We never needed carpet cleaner -- just lots of changes of underwear.

We like Hannah Anderson padded training pants. They're expensive ($28 for three pair) but well made and durable. The padding is nice and thick and it's absorbent enough to stave off most of the damage of an accident. Best of all they're washable, so once you spent your $56 (my opinion is you'd want at least six of them), you're all done.

Hannah Anderson is so darn expensive, every time I enter that shop, I can feel my credit card trembling in my wallet like a frightened puppy. But their quality is great and I feel like I get what I pay for in there.
