TOPIC: Throwing Food

Throwing Food
1 Year, 1 Month ago
Is 13 months too early for the terrible twos? Abby has taken to shoving her food off the tray. Sometimes she will pick up food, smile at me, and then drop it off the side of the chair. Right now we tell her no and that throwing food is bad. If she does it again, the meal is over.

I'm sure every toddler has done this. Any thoughts on how to deal with it?

My wife bought a huge shower curtain that she spread out underneath the high chair.

I think this is a stage that just about all kids go through. Be consistent in discouraging the behavior. Try not to laugh. Because it can be sorta hilarious sometimes.

That's about the right age. All 3 of mine were hash slingers, thank goodness we have a Beagle that likes most food items. Good Luck.

My 18 month old son has done this as soon as he could put food in his mouth. Usually I take it as a sign that he's done and that's that. However, sometimes he does it just because he is bored or something and then it becomes a bit of a game. I usually start taking his tray and say "Well, I guess your all done." which gets him to stop most of the time.

The dog loves it. She begs at the door to come back inside whenever he's in the high chair. Still have to mop afterwards though.

Hopefully this "stage" doesn't last much longer. He is already acting like he's too big for the high chair. He occasionally demands to sit at the table which is good but it's also a good opportunity to make a bigger mess. Maybe I just need to buy a couple shower curtains.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
