TOPIC: Third Times a Charm

Third Times a Charm
42 Years, 5 Months ago
My wife is expecting, that's right # 3 on the way. I'm feeling pretty confident about being a supportive Due Dad this time. With # 1 I was an excited but clueless dumb ass, flying by the seat of my pants. With # 2, I was a little over confident, a little arrogant. But this time I'm gonna knock it out of the park, brush up on my foot massage technique.

Who's the best Due Dad, rookie or veteran?

Congrats, man. That's exciting. I would guess that a supportive rookie is better than a lazy veteran. I decided when we got pregnant that it was our pregnancy, and not just hers. It changed the outlook of the whole thing. (Okay, so that might have come from two years of doctor-assisted trying before an actual conception... I was pretty darned invested already!)

Rookie or veteran doesn't matter, the best DueDad is the one who listens to his wife's needs....

Did I just say that?!!???
Dang I've gotten soft.

The DueDad that gets his wife a new pair of padded slippers so that her feet aren't so sore while she makes the snacks for Monday Night Football.... That's more like it (please do not tell my wife I said that)

Oh, yeah- Congrats on #3, you are on your way!!! By the time you get to #7 you'll start to get the hang of it...

CONGRATULATIONS DADDY BRAD! Gonna film the birth? I bet ya filmed the conception! HAHAHA!

Goin' for the full basketball team? Or just a good house cleaning crew?

Seriously, Congrats! I agree with Rob, a lazy veteran is worthless. And while Poserdad's answer is amusing, I shall not concur so as not to share a room in his dog house.

Dude, you got this.

As my band teacher Mr. Foster used to say, you hear me, but you don't listen. I've warned you about the plight of the outnumbered. And if you won't listen to me, just take a good look at poor Poserdad! The man is a wreck. But no, you just can't help yourself. You can't be stopped. It's nothing but work, work, work, with you. Whatever you have to do for DadLabs.

We appreciate your dedication.

Congrats.

One of my homebrew club buddies has three kids. From the first one, he has made brews for his wife so that as she returns to the beer consuming world, her system doesn't go into total shock. He starts with sweet, light (low alcohol, they're usually dark) brews and gradually goes up from there. I think that's a total vet move. My wife doesn't like beer, so I can't coup those brownie points.

Grats Daddy Brad!

I would just say that for me the greatest thing my Hubby did was just jump in and do what needed to be done when I didn't feel well enough to do it myself. If that means cooking for your kids, or keeping them entertained while she takes a nap, then that's what you should do. Obviously her needs will change over the course of the pregnancy.

Oh, and never use the word FAT in front of a pregnant woman. EVER! Not even when you're talking about how you need to trim the FAT on the family budget... because the next thing she'll say is Do you think I look fat? Power of suggestion... so never suggest it!

Yes, a hearty congratulations to you and your wife. We're only thinking of number 2. Just thinking. And thinking some more. And then thinking about it again. And again. While Beatrice wails away in my arms, flailing her arms and hitting my face.

What was the question again?

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
