TOPIC: Gender Dissapointment

Gender Dissapointment
3 Years, 1 Month ago
The wifey and I have been discussing on how she wants a girl and how I really want a boy, and this has been a hot topic between us, family and friends for the past 19 weeks she has been prego. Yesterday however we found out the sex of the baby is a boy, and man has see been dissapointed about it. She just seems like her baby motivation has dropped and she is never going to be happy with this baby. Is this something that is normal for women? Anyone have any ideas? Let me know, I could use the help. Thanks

I would think it's just as natural as how you would be if it were a girl... We all have in our head what we expect to do with our kids... I dream of skating with the boy, and I'm sure Momma dreams of preparing for school dances with a lil' girl... it's a trade off for sure, but a healthy child really is the best thing to hope for. Hopefully some of your excitement will rub off on her.

When her lil' boy looks into her eyes, she'll be fine. Babies tend to make women melt... no matter the gender...

I jhave to agree with Nick on when she sees him she will be knocked out. It seems the mother-son bond is huge according to my wife and her friends with sons. Their boys are just it for them.

One thing I would suggest is sending her on a boys clothes shopping trip. Once she starts seeing all the cute boy clothes she will really start getting into having a boy.

A friend's wife really got in the dumps when they discovered they were having a boy, too. She had had dreams about their girl and had even had the name come to her in one of these repeating dreams. Once Donovan arrived it was better though. In her case, it was good. She had time to prepare for wanting a boy. Seems like if they're stuck on one gender, it's best to find out early. In our case, neither of us had a strong preference, so we waited to find out with no disappointments.

I second the boy clothes shopping, too. The only caveat is that most stores have twice the girl clothes as boys and they're almost always right as you come in the doors, so make sure that there's an escort to help her to the good stuff. Doesn't have to be you, but someone close who she can cry with... hormones and all.

For some odd reason we fully expected a girl but come scan day my boy let it be known that wasn't going to happen.
I share the opinion that love holds no bounds when they make their entry to the world

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
