TOPIC: Cord Blood Banking

Cord Blood Banking
1 Year, 6 Months ago
I get this feeling like they are trying to play on peoples emotional state to sign up for a Private Cord Blood Bank.

I get the benefits of stem cells and how they could cure many ailments in the future. But it still feels like a scam.

I hear some states let you do Public Cord Blood donation where you get to donate them and you have an option to use them if they are available. I would prefer this option.

How many of you chose to do Private Cord Blood Banking and what to do you feel about this? Is it worth it?

While this may not be the right process for deciding it is the one I used:

Here are some questions to ask yourself.

How much does my car cost me in repairs or payment?
My TV?
Furniture?
Vacation?

you get the idea..

What's worth more?

At the time we had a double income and no kids (we were DINKS).

And I had just picked up a big screen TV and it was a no brainer for me as the cord blood cost less than the TV.

Again probably not the right way to to decide but it is what I used.

In my research, the benefits of donating cord blood are pretty clear, and while we will discuss the process of private banking of cord blood, our video will focus mostly on donation.

I have not banked my babies blood yet because we have not had her but we are going too. I can tell you as a mother and a woman with Diabetes and Multiple sclerosis that to me it is worth banking the blood. Those are two things on the list that they are using cord blood for and there is a chance in the future that i could be free of both. also i can pass these on to my babies so i want the blood banked in case they end up with either or their kids do and so on. also if anything ever happened to my husband they may be able to match her blood up with him. Like i said I have not done it yet but coming from a woman with the diseases I have its so worth the money because I want to be around as long as i can for my kids and my husband and i want my children to have a fighting chance if i pass this to them. There is never a 100% guarantee with this stuff but I don't see why not take a chance. hope this helps some. I am sorry im not a someone who has used the system yet but i just wanted you to know why im doing it.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
