TOPIC: effects of diet on Mom's breastmilk?

effects of diet on Mom's breastmilk?
1 Year, 5 Months ago
For those of you whose families were into breastfeeding - did you find that Mom's diet had an impact on how your baby reacted to her breastmilk?

Our little guy is normally a little fussy. Last night we had stir fry, and my wife (who has not been able to stomach spicy foods for the duration of her pregnancy!) decided to put some curry in her stirfry.

Our baby woke up a 2am this morning, which is not unusual; what was unusual is that his 2am breastfeeding did not satisfy him. Rather than going back to sleep, like he normally does, he got increasingly fussy. By 6am his attitude was borderline thermonuclear and he was projectile-vomiting all over the room.

We've taken his temperature and he's not hot.

Was your wife able to eat spicy foods without impacting the baby's feeding? If she did eat something spicy, how long did it take for it to work its way through her system, so that her breastmilk returned to 'normal'?

Thanks

Oh yeah. Green Chili stew gave us a crazy night and onions didn't quite sit well with our first little dude. You gotta think that if booze can be expressed breast milk spicy foods surely follow suit.

Dadchelor Parties

Daddy Clay talks to Beth Feldman, Founder and President of RoleMommy.com about a few "dad trends." Dads are becoming more involved with everything from the very beginning, including doctors appointments and even baby showers. A Dadchelor party is a get together for new Dads that is essentially, diapers for beer. Guest bring diapers and beer is served while you watch movies or maybe the game. At a Dadchelor party, baby kegger, ok, strippers, not ok. (Trust us on this one.) Another great idea for new Dads is to take the Mom-to-be on a "Babymoon" where she gets pampered and can relax. Well, relax as much as one can when building a human. Episode 868
