Hi there,

My name is Brian. I am a 32 year old stay-at-home dad. Last year my partner and I adopted a beautiful little girl.

She's almost a year old now and I love every minute of being a dad. However, I do yearn for a little grown-up conversation every now and then and the cashier at the grocery store is no longer cutting it!

I joined Dadlabs in hopes of meeting some great people to swap stories with and hopefully make some new friends for me and my daughter.

How old is your daughter? I've got a 2.7 year old son... he amazes me everyday.

The isolation sucks sometimes, don't it? I think it's helped me to have the dadlabs forum as an outlet every once in awhile. Welcome! and Congrats!

Brian, welcome to the Lab! Glad you are here. Congrats on the little one. I believe you will find both childish and adult conversation here, depending on who's talking. We tackle many serious parenting issues but also make fake poop out of common grocery store items. Variety is the spice of life.

A fellow new gay dad here. My partner, Marc, and I just adopted our daughter, who was born in December. Neither of us gets the opportunity to be a stay-at-home parent, but Marc works from home and I'm taking off through the end of this month. We're soaking up as much family time as we can before I have to go back to work full-time and she has to go to daycare.

I must say that parenting is the hardest thing either of us has ever done, but it's full of so many rewards. We don't love every minute of it (does anyone, truly?). But we're enjoying the challenges, learning new stuff about ourselves and reveling in the all the ups and downs of parenting such an incredible, beautiful little creature.

Welcome to the new dads! The DadLabs community has been a great place to come and discuss parenting issues: large, small, serious, silly, and wonderful.

For reference, I've started a thread for adoptive parents but it's been a bit quiet over there so far. Would welcome the chance to discuss those challenges with folks if they're so inclined.
