You are still going to circumcise your son? And you seem so careless about it.

Here is my experience: I have great parents, but when I was growing up, the one thing I resented most was the fact that they circumcised me. They cut off 2/3rds of my sexually sensitive skin just because they thought it was better that way. I would opt to leave it intact, and I think my opinion should be the one that counts in this decision (it concerns me for the rest of my life, not them).

The same situation is true of you. Just because you like the tradition and you like the look doesn't mean your son will. If you cut him, you force your opinion on him for the rest of his life. If you don't cut him, you give him the opportunity to decide either way for himself. Do you honestly think that it is ok to so flippantly amputate a sensitive and functional part of his junk just because you like it that way, with no regard to his opinion?

As for the medical aspect, my sons are not cut and they have had no cleanliness issues. You can try to make the claim that it should be done because it prevents disease, but that is only true in a small number of situations when the person has frequent unprotected sex. You don't even know that your son will be irresponsible enough to do that. How do you justify judging him before he has even grown up, and cutting off part of his penis based on your assumption?

Circumcising your son with no medical need is a cruel, barbaric thing to do. He may or may not resent the decision later. Do you really have the right to gamble on that? - Josh Baker
