Two weeks ago at the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska The University of South Carolina Baseball Team won it’s second National Championship. That’s right the GameCocks went back to back! Winning two championships in a row is a rare feat to say the least, it has only been accomplished three other times in the history of college baseball. In fact when any team that you REALLY care about wins a title it’s a big deal.
I grew up in South Carolina rooting for the Gamecocks and had to wait 4 decades for the GameCocks to win the big one. Actually only three teams that I care deeply about have taken home all the marbles; Texas Football in 2005 and the GameCocks Baseball 2010 and 2011.
The fact that Walker and I watched the past 2 Gamecock victories together made it even sweeter. Rooting on the LongHorns and Gamecocks has become a special father and son activity for the 2 of us and we are hungry for another title. Football season starts in 56 days!
I do a little GameCock gloating on this weeks Cast of Dads podcast, as well as share some of the inappropriate bumper stickers “Cock” fans put on their cars.
Take a listen.

This past Tuesday evening I was consumed with assembling the mega playscape in our backyard and completely forgot about the Cast of Dads podcast we had scheduled for the evening. A bit embarrassed, I finally dialed in about 25 minutes late. The discussion had turned painful as the fellas were talking vasectomy! Being completely intact, I shared my thoughts on the matter. I am anti snip, snip. What happens if my wife and I are the last two individuals left on the earth after a catastrophic asteroid impact and it’s up to us to repopulate the planet? Since I don’t know how to perform a vasectomy reversal, I guess the human race would go the way of the dinosaur. Total Extinction.
Well I’m not ready to take that risk and just give up on humanity so my boys will remain functional. Read the rest of this entry »
