A few days ago I had the opportunity to take my kids to an early screening of the new Winnie the Pooh movie. I was positive that Ella, my 5 year old daughter, would be very excited to go as she is right in Pooh’s choosen demographic. However I was not quite sure my 8 year old son would be interested. While still a sweet little boy, the images of full blown pre-teen are beginning to flourish. He is way into sports, has definite opinions about what is cool and un-cool and wouldn’t be caught dead watching a Noggin rerun. So I was a bit surprised when he decided to join us for the movie trip.
He loved it! We all loved it! He giggled, belly laughed and smiled the entire 64 minute run time. The new Pooh is a wonderful movie for kids of all ages including 43 year old kids. The story and spirit of the movie stays true to the classic Pooh films of yesteryear which I was delighted to see. I am glad that the Pooh my kids will come to know is the same Honey Obsessed pooh I loved many years ago.
But this is no old and crusty, propped up version of Pooh. This Pooh is new, fresh and exciting. John Cleese, Jim Cummings, Craig Ferguson and Disney Superstar of Jack-alope fame Bud Luckey provide us a delightful hours long romp through the Hundred Acre Wood. The writing is wonderful, contains accessible depth and humor for kids of all ages and is just plain fun!
This is a great. movie.
If you have kids take them. If you don’t have kids offer to treat your neighbors to a movie. If you don’t have neighbors go see Pooh by yourself! You’ll be glad you did!
