OH, forgot the robot memory… duh…
Johnny 5 is Alive! (Need I say more?)
Come on, Ally Sheedy AND Steve Guttenberg? Gotta love Short Circuit!
No Disassemble Johnny 5!!
I loved Short Circuit when I was a kid
I am a new father late in my life. I am not an expert, but I know what does NOT work.
My favorite memory of robots was dancing the robot back in the 80s.
Seriously, I actually grew up wanting to be a robot. Not a fireman, police man or astronaut, but a robot. lol
This would be great for my son, Steeler. Yes, Steeler is his name. YES, I am a robot Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan.
Love the book and the marketing behind it. Love your blog and show. Keep up the great work.
Does anyone remember MyPal2???

OMG this thing was fun. My parents didn’t make very much money, so I always had to envy my cousins who got every toy they wanted! They would bring it with them everywhere, so when they were distracted enough it was mine for a few moments. It could shoot a little ping pong ball, it would talk and light up! It was basically everything I wish real people would do in a robot best friend! HAHA
Also… it had a basket ball hoop.
*fades back with jump shot*
I used to watch Lost in Space reruns as a kid. The Robot was so cool. I wanted one of my own. I wanted to build one. That desire lead me to a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and a career at NASA building robots.
Ok, that list bit is completely untrue. I’m a graphic designer. But wouldn’t that haven’t been so cool?
We were in Odessy of the Mind as kids (don’t know what it’s called now) and we got to build a robot! As a 10-year-old, imagination is overflowing for a great robot. Still wish I could have invented the one that cleans my room…
I enjoyed the Star Wars Movies with R2D2 and C3PO.
Going lo-tech with the Rock-em Sock-em Robots.
For ‘Media’ robots, it’s a toss-up between Marvin(HHGTG) and IQ-9(StarBlazers).
Though, given my avatar, IQ-9 wins!
I’ve loved robots forever. I made my first robot when i was in 2nd grade, it was a trash can placed on a R/C car.
Now, many years later, I actually make robots for a living (see http://www.xitome.com).
The trashcan story is a great leader.
I used to love Rose the Robot from The Jetsons when I was a youngin’…she had soo much sass…LOL And quite often saved the Jetsons from misfortune~!!!
Sorry…that’s Rosie the Robot…didn’t notice that before…DOH~!!!
I can only think of the Jetson’s robot. Don’t really remember any others when I was a kid
I’d love to win this for my great-nephew….He loves “bobots”

Ummmm…Robot Memory??? Can I say that I don’t have one memory about robots? In fact I’m trying really hard and I can’t even think of one robot….wait who is that one that had caterpillar wheels and angry eyebrows? Let me ask my hubby…Johnny 5. I remember watching Johnny 5, that’s all! But, I think my son would love this book and it would be a great robot memory for him.
I am interested in this book.
I love old old old movies and l love 1953 Abbott and Costello Go to Mars

Ok gave this some thought and there are a few
First is Elektro Westinghouse engineer Joseph Barnett made a splash at the 1939 World’s Fair with a 7-foot, cable-controlled metal man that could walk, speak 77 words (using a wax record), and even smoke cigarettes (so debonair).
Second the Hero 1 by Heath Kit the first units were available in 1982 always wanted one.
Third Fale Maria the classic sexbot from Fritz Lang’s 1927 Metropolis was one of the first mechanized humans on film. She danced topless, incited riots, and sparked duels, but what really got her off was overthrowing the ruling class.
Then there are three that are just iconic Hal 9000, KITT, and The Terminator
