A while back we did a dad labs video on how to do make a simple bean bag toss. While it might not meet official specs of this popular game, it comes close. Both the construction and the game are fun to do with your kids. In the video we mentioned some plans in our blog — here they are in an image format.

If you’re not gonna be a ‘tournament’ snob and don’t feel the need to make it to exact tourney specs, I highly recommend trading out those 2×4s with 1×3s.
The 2×4 constructed sets are HEAVY!! If they are only gonna live at home in your garage and yard, then it’s not a big deal. If you ever plan on taking them with you to tailgating, bbqs, reunions, etc. then you’re gonna want lighter weight.
I saw a modification after I had built my set… the legs were attached on the OUTSIDE of the edge, so the boards could be flipped over… on the “underside” of the frame, there was a grid, which allowed for a whole ‘nother game(the one I saw was tic tac toe).
The possibilities here are endless. Make up your own “toss for points” game. How about chalk board paint on the ‘underside?’ Then you could draw your own new game each time (granted, you may need to redraw lines and such throughout play)… but hey, it’s PLAY!
I am very proud of the paint job on my set. Jawas vs. Droids. Yep. Oh yea, a nerd lives here. And his name is Dad.

(Not sure if the image code from photobucket is going to post correctly in a comment.)
Nik,
We need to give you your own dadlabs superdad channel.
Ha. Thanks for the compliment… I just comment on what I have either experience with, or perhaps a strong opinion… but don’t be too impressed with my wood working skills. You’ll note that it’s all been squares and rectangles… And the paint job on the cornhole boards, all traced. Just a lil’ time consuming, but SUPER EASY!
