Every so often, Aaron, Dixie and Co. pack up all the video gear and we head out to an Austin Landmark, Freddie’s Place, to meet some friends, have a few brews and shoot some video.
Let there be no mistake, we love Freddie’s Place for many, many reasons. The wooded “patio” that’s a recovering parking lot is welcoming to kids and dogs alike. Stoner (you heard me) and the rest of the staff there are about as laid back as they can be while slinging food and drinks at an amazing pace. The burgers rock and so do the margaritas. They serve Lone Star tallboys to our interns.
Yesterday’s Freddie’s Father Fest was a prime example of the breed. Although thunderstorms threatened, all we got was enough cloud cover to keep Brad from sweating through his chair. Lots of old friends came by to give us their frank and funny opinions in response to our puzzling questions. And our kids had an absolute ball.
Thanks a lot to the good folks at Mutsy and BabyBjorn that gave us some loot to distribute at the event. And congrats to them that won it.
If you ever have a chance to make it to one of these, please come on out. It is indeed as much fun as it looks.
