Snacks in Cracks

Smooshed, crunched, squished, pulverized or pulped: what snacks make the worst messes to clean up? We asked this question to our panel of experienced parents and received a veritable buffet of answers. Isn't it amazing, the things peanut butter can be made to do by kids? Find out what other sticky, messy parenting nightmares giving a simple snack food to your child can present. DadLabs Ep. 334 The Lounge. Brought to you by Boon.

Daddy Brad: Welcome back to the lounge – we’re here in beautiful downtown Austin, Texas. Actually we’re in heaven because we’re at Freddie’s place and he’s got barbecue right over there! And we’re going to eat barbecue, drink beer and talk about parenting – I’m Daddy Brad.

Daddy Owen: Today’s lounge is brought to you by Boon – innovations for modern parents, they also make barbecue.

Daddy Clay: I’m Daddy Clay, and this is the show where we interview parents about the challenges of parenting today – get their feedback. And this week’s question is?

Daddy Brad: What snack makes the absolute worst mess?

Man 1: Anything that has like a jelly in it.

Man 2: Cotton candy.

Jodi: Vegebootie – because you get like green powdery greenness.

Daddy Clay: Anything candy that sticks to the carpet in the car just drives me crazy.

Daddy Owen: I’ve got to say peanut butter is the worst of the messy stuff. You know like it gets everywhere.

Daddy Clay: You give it to them just as a snack – you open up the jar and say here you go kid? Its probably organic peanut butter which is like really runny and stuff.

Wilson: Like you and mommy always get mad at me for when I eat peanut butter and you say it gets everywhere and stuff – so yeah, I think that’s the messiest snack – peanut butter.

Man 3: For us it’s really anything that’s squeezable – the Popsicles that you have to squeeze out, the yogurts that you have to squeeze out. Next thing you know, you’ll have to squeeze everything out, and of course they always squeeze out a little bit too much.

Daddy Clay: No touchy! No touchy! Sorry, we don’t touch the host okay? So you just keep your hands in your space and I’ll keep my hands in my space okay?

Daddy Brad: Ice cream sandwiches!

Daddy Clay: That’s not a snack! What snack?

Lady 1: Those teething biscuits? The ones that babies are supposed to gum that make the film that just spreads out all over their face and their hands and they drop parts of it and its everywhere, and you cant clean it up.

Daddy Clay: Oh man! That makes me want to go wash myself and my house in bleach.

Man 4: Jerry has a unique capacity to spread and permeate and stain and it just migrates across the face in a way that nothing else does.

Daddy Clay: Cute kid! I’m glad you brought him but just no touching okay?

Man 3: Blueberries

Lady 2: Blueberries yes! In fact I think it was at your house, there was a blueberry snack in the yard, and it left Berkeley purple and naked from head to toe.

Daddy Owen: Yes! I don’t know how the blueberries undressed them.

Daddy Brad: An ice cream sandwich is a snack!

Daddy Clay: Ice cream sandwich is desert you AC.

Daddy Brad: I give my kids ice cream sandwiches all the time.

Daddy Clay: Have you ever thought like to just go a little lighter on the peanut butter?

Wilson: No it’s too yummy.

Man 1: The sippy cup with the milk in it – it’s kind of solidified and actually could be used for an anchor for a boat.

Daddy Clay: Has anyone ever harvested the cheese inside the sippy cup with the milk in it just to see?

Man 5: Peanut butter in an open blender. Its such a bad idea you haven’t even tried it.

Daddy Brad: I haven’t tried it. You leave the top off and you punch the button?

Man 5: Yeah that’s right. Put a little yogurt in – yeah.

Daddy Clay: See its…

Man 2: Ice cream sandwich is the best there is.

Daddy Clay: We’ll we’ve gotten some great ideas about the messiest snacks – the ones to avoid, here in the lounge this week. We really appreciate you joining us here. Make sure you drop us a comment about whatever snacks you find to be the messiest, and you’ll automatically be qualified for our weekly giveaway, which this week is?

Daddy Brad: Snack bowl and feeding products.

Daddy Clay: That’s all for us this week here in the lounge. Speaking of snacks, would it kill you Daddy Troy to maybe like, grab us some Nachos or something? I mean my stomach is rumbling.

Daddy Owen: Nachos

Daddy Clay: I’m sorry Wilson, that’s not going to get any better – I mean the cool part, I’m going to get consistently less and less cool.

Wilson: Well then I might as well go somewhere else.

Daddy Clay: Aye, aye, aye, aye.
