Can You Take Your Daughter into the Men's Room?

In this episode, we ask our panel of expert and experienced parents the following question: "Is it okay for moms to take boys into women's restrooms, and dads to take daughters to a men's restroom?" Daddy Clay, Daddy Brad, and Daddy Owen are joined by mothers and fathers as they ponder this parenting issue. Watch as they reveal how they handle this problem when it arises with their kids. DadLabs Ep. 362 The Lounge.

Daddy Clay: Hey welcome back moms and dads, to the Dad Lab lounge I’m Daddy Clay.

Daddy Brad: You know we are out here at Freddy’s place, just having a couple of cold pops, eating some barbeque and talking about parenting - I’m Daddy Brad.

Daddy Owen: I’m Daddy Owen and today’s question is, do you take your daughters to the men’s room? Or do you take your son to the ladies room?

Daddy Clay: So can you take your daughter to the men’s room?

Lady 1: Totally the only bummer is of course, that men’s rooms are usually much more disgusting then women’s rooms.

Man 1: If I know what the bathroom looks like, usually bad I don’t go to the men’s room with my daughter.

Man 2: I give her the choice actually when we get to the restrooms, and I say would you like to go to the girls room by yourself, or in the boy’s room with daddy?

Jodi: I’ve definitely had a few thoughts about Arden in the men’s room toilets, because I have on occasion, had to use a men’s room and that’s not a fun place to pee.

Man 2: She gets kind of frightened.

Man 1: Taking my daughter into the men’s room is pretty disgusting.

Daddy Owen: Why are men’s rooms so much more disgusting?

Daddy Clay: And ever would you just say that bathroom looks so disgusting - you’d really be better off just peeing yourself?

Daddy Owen: The strangest experience I’ve had recently is, I was at a coffee shop or the co-ed bathroom in the little place Arden used the toilet, and then you know I said, I need to go. Arden says Daddy can I touch your penis? No Arden you cant! Ok I’ll just look at it. And then I opened the door to the person standing waiting to use the bathroom.

Daddy Clay: Is there a particular cut off age, you think to stop going?

Lady 2: I talked to a pediatrician about what age and she said probably around 3.

Jodi: This is the point in which you trust them to go alone in to their own restroom without a parent.

Man 2: We’re probably reaching a time that you know - it has to change.

Daddy Owen: Well like age 16? She has to go in the ladies room.

Man 2: Right, right.

Lady 2: At 3 you need to go just the mommy into the bathroom.

Daddy Brad: If you were at a bar you wouldn’t send your daughter into the bathroom by herself.

Lady 2: All non-smoking bars it’s great.

Daddy Brad: You can take kids to non-smoking bars, because the only thing harmful about a bar is the smoke - yeah I didn’t notice that.

Daddy Clay: So if you are a guy, and you are taking a whiz - and some dude walks in with his daughter I mean is that uncomfortable? I mean you.

Daddy Brad: No that’s what I’m saying why would it be uncomfortable? Are you some kind of freak?

Daddy Clay: I need to do some kind of special shielding.

Daddy Owen: You are smaller then daddy, what are you afraid of?

Daddy Brad: Look at the little thing!

Daddy Owen: Daddy it looks like a baby version! Well we have learned a lot about the lavatory today in the lounge thanks for joining us.

Daddy Brad: And I’ve been holding it for the whole segment.

Daddy Clay: If you have some thoughts about this rather uncomfortable subject please, drop us a comment on this video, join us on the community at dadlabs.com and share your thoughts with us, that’s all we got this week here in the lounge.
