Kamal: Hi DadLabs. Come on in. I'm Kamal. This is Stella. This is Heather. And let us show you our Real World Crib. Clay: Today's episode is brought to you by Munchkin, makers of clever baby products. Every nursery needs an Arm & Hammer diaper pail by Munchkin to keep it smelling fresh. Munchkin, it's the little things. Kamal: As far as Heather designing and building the nursery room, she pretty much did it all. Heather: We leave all the handy stuff to me otherwise it's a disaster. For building the crib, bamboo is really easy to work with. One of the reasons I picked it is I didn't want to put any harmful chemicals or anything around that our baby could chew on or get to them. So, basically, I just sanded the bamboo and it's finished. I built it into the window because I really wanted her to have a view. I built the bumpers and it has a snake in it that I use as the bumper around the side. I read a lot about bumpers also being suffocating and you shouldn't use them but the snake instead of being flat where it covers their face kind of rounds it out. Kamal: When the baby came, we knew we had to make this room her room and just kind of stuck with the bamboo. Heather: I just got excited to have someone else to create for. Kamal: From the painting to the sketching of the wood to the cutting, the sawing, she's much more of handy person than I am actually. Heather: We have some coral and sea fins that we had brought from the Virgin Islands when we lived there. We were really into snorkeling and scuba diving. Kamal: We're pretty resourceful people. Heather: The hanging beds that I made was actually something that we use all the time. For naps, we would take it to friend's houses. We would take it to the park. And it was really versatile that way and easy to travel. Kamal: I come home every day and my house is more beautiful than when I left it in the morning and I'm forever grateful to her for that. And she stays at home with the kids and channels her own creativity into these home projects and I couldn't be any happier about it.

Very nice crib indeed. And it's great that the baby even gets a great view of the outdoors.
Homemade = no way! written by Jeffrey Paul,

I barely have time to manage my current work & home life schedule and our first child isn't due until March 18th. How am I supposed to realistically build a homemade crib? I guess I need to quickly become better at time management. Still, amazing design!

I simply can't believe you made that bed yourself. It's awesome. Now I'm wishing or room had a window like that.
