In this episode of The Lab, Daddy Clay sits down with mommy blogger Lizzie Bermudez of LizzyBtv.com, to discuss their experience at the ABC Baby & Kids Expo. A mom of two kids, Lizzie B shares her thoughts on the variety of baby gear and baby products presented at the show. Daddy Clay talks about the inclusion of dads in new product advertising. Daddy Clay: Hey there, welcome back to DadLabs. I'm here with Lizzie B, Lizzie Bermudez, of LizzieBtv.com, a great mommy blog, you should really check it out. We're here at the lovely ABC Kids & Baby Expo in Las Vegas. This is your first show?

Lizzie B: This is my first show. It is.

Daddy Clay: And so what do you think of all this?

Lizzie B: Oh dear …

Lizzie B: It's over the top. It is over the top, so much going on.

Daddy Clay: There's a lot of gear here and as a mom, you've got, tell us about your kids.

Lizzie B: I've got a 4 year old and a 2 year old. And everything you could imagine from maternity to newborn to after the pregnancy to toddlers to kids, it's all here.

Daddy Clay: There are a lot of products here, you know, making lots of pitches, whether it's organic or it's chemical-free or there's a lot of products, to me, to my eye, that are really sort of trading on our anxiety about what's going into the product.

Lizzie B: Well, like you said, I mean it's this whole massive huge market and I think the fact that you now actually have baby planners that are coming in and trying to sift through everything tells you how over the top and crazy it's gotten in every industry. You go look at strollers, there's 10 million strollers. You look at slings, you know, and there's 100 different slings. How do you wrap your mind around it?

Daddy Clay: And the other thing that I've noticed here is like most trade shows, let's be honest, you've got booth babes.

Lizzie B: There's lots of those, you're right.

Daddy Clay: And I would say about 25 to 30 percent of the manufacturers here have woken up, they're realized the demographics, they see dads are participating, they're making purchases, we spend. And you notice it in the art. You see, for example, BabyBjorn, 50-50 in terms of the art on the packaging is dads. A lot of brands are waking up to that. They're making products that are dad-friendly. So it's starting but still, it's a little depressing.
